Bored Candy City is a comprehensive DeFi ecosystem on the Cronos blockchain. It includes a fully community-owned DEX and the pioneering P2E mobile game on Cronos, available on app stores. The Bored Candy ecosystem revolves around the $CANDY token, enabling users to trade, play, and engage with diverse dApps on Cronos and other blockchains.

Scope of work

The Bored Candy City team approached us with the task of launching an NFT collection that complements their ecosystem. The NFTs needed to align visually with the Bored Candy brand, but also serve as functional assets within the Bored Candy ecosystem (i.e., convey utilities).

The Outcome

To start off, we took the time to explore the Bored Candy ecosystem and understand their product suite and community. We then proposed various concepts for NFT art styles and settled on relatable candy-themed characters, paired with versatile and quirky traits. Altogether, we designed over 100 distinct traits, ensuring each NFT’s individuality upon minting. In the following phase, we delved into potential NFT utilities and how they could be reflected in the collection. We introduced five different rarity ranks, adding a gamified dimension to the collection reflected in the metadata. Depending on the rarity rank, NFTs can now be used to enhance APRs in staking pools or serve as in-game multipliers, among other functionalities. Additionally, certain NFTs possess special in-game abilities and advantages. Within a few days of launch, the entire 10,000 NFT collection was minted, raising the equivalent of $270,000.

Follow-up Engagement

Building on the success of the Bored Candy ecosystem on Cronos, the project team is expanding its DeFi offerings and brand presence onto the Polygon blockchain. In preparation for this expansion, we have introduced additional traits to the NFT collection, incorporating Polygon branding elements.

Head of Tokenomics

Lukas is a Startup enthusiast with a passion for Web3 technology. He studied International Finance in his hometown Frankfurt and has an extensive knowledge in asset- and risk management, portfolio theory, and investment analysis. Since 2021, he co-founded and exited a consulting- and development firm and has co-founded several DAOs backed by established accelerators like Polygon ventures. At Web3 Factory, Lukas leverages his expertise in tokenomics and governance to help projects design and optimize their token economies and governance models.

Joshua

ICO strategy

Joshua is at the heart of several successful ICOs, helping clients raise upwards of USD 1 million despite difficult market conditions. While he has a degree in traditional finance, his strategies are based largely on hands-on experience and exchange with project founders. From building a strong community all the way to public listing – he just knows how to make it happen.

Marketing & PR

Simon has studied politics and previously worked for Havas, a global communication and marketing powerhouse. Based on his experience he later founded “Der Korrekturfuchs”, a copywriting and marketing agency, and now supports Web3 Factory as Head of Marketing.
